Grantmaking Criteria
The Peter Alfond Foundation is a charitable private foundation with principal interests in the fields of education and wellness. The Foundation also contributes to worthy general charities within its principal areas of geographic interest, which include the Caribbean Islands and New England. The Foundation does not normally consider requests for grants to individuals, religious organizations for religious purposes, or start-up funding for new organizations. Requests for grants for political or lobby purposes are not considered.
When considering major grants, the Foundation normally requires that the grantee raise matching funds from other organizations and individuals.
These policies are not fixed, nor are they binding on the Foundation. They are presented as an indication of the Foundation’s current areas of emphasis and support.
